Please forgive me but I have been reading for hours and ready to blow my head off.
I am looking at a Used 2018 XLT that does NOT have tow mirrors.
Can I add them?(Plug and play) I would prefer OEM but would be willing to accept a quality aftermarket.
Then there is the Bliss? WTF is that and does it matter?
Some of the aftermarket ones I have seen have an adapter from 8 to 22?

Does the 2018 XLT in question have spot lights in the mirrors already? These are the little buttons by the left hand heater vent. That will determine if it has 8 or 22 pin mirrors.

Bliss is Ford's blind spot sensor. Basically a little orange dot lights up in the corner of the mirror when a vehicle is in that side's blind spot
I just installed OEM tow mirrors yesterday they were plug and play my OE mirrors were power mirrors and heated also turn indicator. The new ford ones were the same came with a 8 to 22 pin adapter took about 10 min to install. cost about 650.00 from an online dealer. I had a set of after market that was pretty good but one was destroyed so I replaced with OEM if you have power mirrors get the set that works with what you have you can upgrade but will cost more and be more involved . manual tow mirrors are around 350.00 OEM. I got mine from Fairway ford off of ebay emailed kevin in parts and gave my VIN to get the right setup drove the truck today just to check them out. They look great that said the aftermarket ones were not hateful I just prefered the OEM also used my ford Reward point to help pay for them Fairway Ford is a great parts source I have used them many times they ship quick and have never charged shipping.
PS BLIS is blind spot indicator a little dot in the mirror that lights up when something is in the vehicle's blind spot

This is pretty much the right way to do it, and a lot of good dealers will take your VIN, see what options your stock mirrors had, and give you the part number for plug-and-play tow mirrors. For instance, my wife's has power adjust and turn signals, I can't recall if she has the spot lights or not - I never get in it after dark. However, I know I can call the parts guy at our local dealer, give him the VIN, and he'll find me the right tow mirrors right away. Now, if we wanted to add power extend/fold, THAT'S where it gets pricier, because now you're talking at minimum new switches along with those higher $$ mirrors.

That i do not know. Any of the pics online do not show that part of the dash.
EDIT. After looking at other trucks I see what you are taking about and after looking closer at the online pics it appears the truck does NOT have the Bliss
I wish factory mirrors were an option for me. At $3200 for factory, I’m looking at Boost Auto for $1285. Yes, fully optioned. The only thing Boost gives up is power extend. For almost $2000 more, I’ll pass on that feature. I’ve been trying to find a used set for a long time, and if I do, it’s only the driver’s side, as people can’t seem to figure out how to drive without knocking the passenger tow mirrors off. 😆

I've NEVER been able to figure that out - I honestly assume it's because they park stupid, and someone else smashes the the passenger one with their door.
I have only EVER damaged a driver's mirror, and even then not since the old days when 'tow mirrors' on a truck meant you had the big tripod-looking frames and you flipped the mirrors around to the outside. That made the truck REALLY wide, and when you're going down a paved road that's barely wide enough for two cars and you come up on someone else, you either hit the ditch or hit mirrors.
I bought the Chinese knockoffs back in '17 when I got mine. Just made sure they had all the options my stock mirrors had, minus the autodim, those weren't available. They work fine, the D. side I had a bit of a fitment issue and had to silicone at the top. Other than that I think they sun fade a little faster than the stock plastic but still work fine almost 4 years later now. Couple screws and you can have one of yours off and make sure which connector you have. Back in 'mid '17 they were like a $300 set of mirrors.
Did the same with my '09 I had before this one, cheap Chinese knockoffs, worked just fine.

I have owned 3 trucks that had those mirrors. Just think of the horror and complaining from people driving on now!! The first had no radio with vacuum wipers oh an after market box heater (1947 Dodge for $300) hauled a bunch of hay with that old pickup. Second one (67 F-100 did have a AM radio and heater. The last on had no radio till I installed an old Pioneer unit and had to cut the doors to put the 6X9 speakers in, it did have an aftermarket under dash ac unit. None of them had power steering. Could you imagine the complaints if some of these guys had to drive one!!

I had a '67 F100 that had no radio or heater. They were options at that time. Even in South Texas no heater was not good for about 6-8 weeks out of the year. Take today for instance, it snowed for over 3 hours here in the Hill Country just north of San Antonio. Today, my XLT has heated mirrors seats and is not even considered close to fully loaded.
The heated mirrors come in handy even when it's not that cold. We have high humidity days living near the coast (coastal fog rolls in periodically), and adding a little heat clears them off in short order.
