This may have been asked before, but I haven't had much luck getting hits off of Google for it. I have recently picked up a new tow rig. It's an 08 F350 DRW. It has a round gooseneck hitch hole. I know B&W use a square one for their companion, and that's what people I know use and love. I've read good and bad about the Anderson fifth wheel adapter and found one cheap, so went ahead and picked it up for a couple hundred bucks. It's heavy, and I think steel. I thought in a pinch it would work to bring home a new unit. Our current camper is a tag along, that I used to pull with an F-150. However, with three bunks and a new baby (girl, not truck) the old camper is just too tight. We had it out to Maggie Valley this past week, and it was CRAMPED.
Anyway, I'm babbling, but my question is, does anyone make a similar hitch to the B&W companion but for the round shank in the bed? the gooseneck I have is a 30k draw tite (i beleive) with an annoying thing, the release pin is accessed through top of the bed. But even with that, I would really like a fifth wheel hitch that slips in to the gooseneck, otherwise I might look at getting fifth wheel rails.
I'm not sure if I fully understand your question. You have no hitch below the bed, just the hole where one was, or you have a hitch with no ball for the hole. Cody Hitch, Draw-tite and Curt all had round *****. I'd highly recommend you look at a Reese Goose Box hitch, if you can go that much for your hitch.
I was rambling a bit. Sorry about that. I have a gooseneck setup. I'm looking for a fifth wheel hitch. The b&w companion slides in a square hole. My gooseneck uses a round hole.
I use the reese ball in my truck. If you have the corresponding puck holes that would be used for a 5th wheel hitch, get the curt pucks. They will fit bigger chains.

Thanks all!
How about a picture of the bed of YOUR truck. That way we can see what you have and go from there.

The picture I grabbed from etrailer is the setup I have. Except for the ball. Which I also have. It gives me a round hole for the ball to slide into. B&w uses a square one. So the b&w fifth wheel companion hitch also uses a square one.
Is there a similar hitch to the b&w companion hitch that uses the round gooseneck hole to mount the fifth wheel?

Well, how about instead of buying a 5th wheel hitch for your pickup, you buy a Reese Goosebox or something similar for the trailer. Then all you have in your bed is the ball.

This is the best solution. If one uses gooseneck and a 5th wheel, the Goose Box is the near perfect solution. I paid $975 for my gen 2, and it was 2.7" longer than the pin box it replaced, so automatic offset. You can find Gen 1s on Craigslist and Marketplace for $500-700. If you want to definitely use a 5th wheel, your only options, that I'm aware of, are rails or an Anderson Ultimate type.
I just purchased a demco recon, waiting on it now, it attaches to gooseneck ball, then you tighten a bolt and put the hitch head on. I assume that's a similar style as what you want, u can use it with any style gooseneck and get you to 5th wheel plate. You will find them around $650.
Josh, Looks like that should work. Why do you need more than 18k rated? Most 5th wheels are under 20k (mine is 18k fully loaded - 42'). Unless your talking a 40+ ft toy hauler. Those can go over 20k....
MK, yes I have been thinking of a 40 foot plus toy hauler and/or bunkhouse. I would really prefer a bunkhouse I think because they are less weight, and less expensive overall. Though I guess that means toy haulers hold their value better than the bunkhouse campers do. I've seen a lot of bumper pull bunkhouses that I like however, only a few fifth wheel campers. I am not sure which I will end up going with , but I want as many options as possible when it comes to my next unit to make it as affordable as possible.
Also towed A friend and fellow FTE member gooseneck which is actually a fifth wheel with a gooseneck adapter on it and the gooseneck adapter was made it for 30 K, and it towed fantastic I don't know if there's a negative side to using that type of adapter when it comes to towing a fifth wheel so I'm just trying to figure out and learn as much as I can.
