Welcome to FTE.

Open both doors and disconnect the battery. Then turn on a headlight switch. Leave it that way for 20 minutes or so. Then turn off the headlight switch, reconnect the battery and close the doors. Hopefully they will both go up.

Thanks for the video but have been through just about everything on the internet so far
its not a mechanical issue, it’s electrical
by the way, the lights on and battery disconnect did nothing but thanks for trying

The idea is to have them both down when you disconnect the battery so that hopefully they will retract at the sale time.

On my '13, I disconnected the battery once.
From that point until I sold it the left board would stay down twice as long as the right.

Never was able to find out what the issue was.
Hope you have better luck with yours.

actually I finally took in to ford
they said there was two shorts , and traced one to the drivers seat massage system relay, pulled it and it cleared up, never really found out what other was but they did say I might have reinserted the fuse for the running boards into the wrong spot as I was trouble shooting
I may have as I was trying soooo, many thing’s especially when was having the battery issue
so I guess the bad battery caused the running board issue maybe and I messed up on the fuss🤔, still not convinced, but the seat message issue was shorting the battery but my battery was definitely bad, shorted cell

Conclusion, take to dealer, they have done special diagnostic tools to deal with
FYI, my total bill for most of a day , $90!!

One thing my friend a mechanic told me when I bought my new 2020 F-150 was if I ever had to put a charger on the battery make sure I disconnect both cables first so the charger is only running power into the battery.
