Computer or Tablet for FORScan

Looking to purchase a computer or tablet to use for FORScan since my main computer is a Mac.

What is the preferred device to use a computer or a tablet?

Either will work fine. Here's a question though. Is your Mac a MacBook? If so, you could always install windows with Bootcamp. Windows 10 is free.

All my stuff is Mac also. My computer is a desktop. I bought a cheap Lenovo at Best Buy just to run FORScan on. It's slower than slow. But I keep it stripped down to basically a web browser, email and FORScan app and I get by. It's not like I use FORScan every day. Just a very few times per year. In fact I usually have to go through and update the free license because it's so long between uses.
I took it to a computer shop and had it updated from Vista to Windows 10 a while back. Slightly faster but not much.
You could probably also pick up a used Windows laptop on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace cheap too.

I don’t think you can run the full Forscan on a tablet. Am I missing something?

You can indeed use a Windows tablet. Not on iOS or phone software though.

Yes, go with a Windows tablet. Much more convenient than a laptop.

I had an old Windows desktop collecting dust in the closet. I installed ForScan on it, hauled it out to the truck with an extension cord and made my changes. Kind of cumbersome but it got the job done! Everybody has an old PC in the closet..... or at least has a friend with an old PC in the closet, right?

I do and it does not work with Windows Vista and could not upgrade to Windows 10 so went on EBay and bought a used Dell w/Windows 10.....

FORScan functionality summary
The FORScan Lite app will only work on the Android platform. It's also available on Apple, but I'm not sure if that's on all Apple products. FORScan Lite is for monitoring, it does not allow you to change parameters.

The full FORScan application requires Windows. This is the version that allows you to make parameter changes.

I use Win 10 for FORScan and an Amazon HD Fire for FORScan Lite.

If using a MacBook, then the easiest way might be to to use virtualization software such as VMware Fusion, Parallels or Virtual Box. Then install a Windows 10 VM to use with Forscan. I've been doing that since I got my 2016 and it's worked quite well.
