I'm looking for more info on the Mastercraft courser MXT's. They would be going on a 95 ½ ton 4x4(rather will be 4x4 soon....)
Just put you thought(s), how many mile you got out of them and what they were on.
They are a value line import tire and most are coming from Vietnam and India currently due to trade tariffs on China. These are made by Apollo who owns Cooper. These fall right in line with the rest of the off brand mud tires.
Better tires out there. I sell Mastercraft and can get Cooper ( same brand ) but, there are better tires. They look cool, but I'd spend some extra on Goodyear Fierce Attitudes or even a Kanati Mud Hog ( Junk but it's cheap and looks cool ) .. Do you need mud tires?. Anything with a block mud tread is going to chop and cup on a TTB axle.. I would recommend a hybrid all terrain. Dynapro AT2, Wildpeak AT3W, Trailrunner A/T or even an AT3 if you need to stay with Cooper/ Mastercraft. The Courser AXT2 would be the Mastercraft variant
@ford360gashog I know that Mastercraft is a sister company to Cooper supposedly using Cooper's old molds, the MXT looks a lot like the Cooper STT, at least I think that's the one anyway.

Cooper and Mastercraft are basically the same tire lines run in parallel. Hercules is in this mix as well. Cooper bakes the marketing into the price. But rest assured, they are basically the same
@matt167 I don't necessarily NEED an MT, I'm wanting 31x10.5x15 (moving from 28.8"ish) and love the look of an aggressive tire. Right now I have Kelly Edge A/T and they pack up so quick it ain't funny.
The tires I've really looked at are
Falken wildpeak at3w $740
Toyo open country at3 $730
General grabber atx $600
Mastercraft courser mxt $550
I know that ¾ of these are ATs, but was wondering about the MXT.....
I've seen the Federal tires and they are garbage. Out of round, egg shaped, wobbly garbage. I've mounted them for people.
I recommend against an MT tire on a TTB because they are going to chop and cup very badly. Your not going to get the wear out of them that anyone else might that is running A arm 4x4 or even straight axle. Not that an MXT is going to make it past 15-20k miles without becoming worn out and loud anyway. That's about the average. The Wildpeak AT3W is probably the biggest seller at my shop, and we started carrying them basically by request.. If your into cheap stuff, the Presa AT-Pro II is a pretty decent tire and they have OWL on one side.. If your really into cheap mud tires, The Goodyear Wrangler Authorities from Walmart are decent for what they are and look cool, if that's your thing. Kelly Safari TSR's if you can find a set ( discontinued after 2019 )
@matt167 I'm in to "cheap" lol. But I like to find a cheap but decent Tire. But I've done some dumb things with my tires. Like hooking up to a 3/4 ton Dodge, needless to say I left a lot of rubber on that road hehe. But I don't want to buy something that it CHEAP and will let me down.
Mud tires on your truck will just wear out very quick. I would put something like Kanati Mud Hogs on if you want an MT. They are cheap, ~decent~ tires and they will last as good as any... If you want a tire that is cheap but will last longer, either the Presa's or an OHTSU AT. The OHTSU is made by Sumitomo, Falkens parent company and they look like crap, but they are decent
@matt167 ok I should probably specify "cheap". I don't want to spend $1200 on tires..... Is the reason tires will cup on a TTB because every bump the tires roll from the center of the tread to the side wall? (If that makes any sense...)

Yes, the large lugs will wear uneven due to the rapid changing camber angle. You will have noisy cupped tires in no time. The only way to keep them quiet is to rotate them to the back, which spins off the cupping in a few miles. However that wears the tire down as well, so your dealing with heavy noise or accelerated wear
