New rear end?

Well, the rear end is up to the same old tricks it always is, leaking, making strange noises, clunking, etc...

It occurred to me, with the Canadian winter coming on, maybe I should just swap it out for a traklok diff from a Tbird or crown vic.

Would I be able to use a different real axle with the Aerostar control arms, maybe a 3.73 8.8 from a locker diff equipped mustang/LTD/Tbird?

The rear and of an Aerostar is a rather unique 3 link setup, and I think there are no other cars that have the same configuration. You would be better off fixing your rear end, or getting one out of another Aerostar.

Now, to adapt the IRS from a TBird into the Aerostar, that would be very intriguing.

Doubt the AXLE will swap (listen to XLT4WD90), but the guts should. HOWEVER, I think the 3.0's use the 7.5" axle, with only the 4.0's getting the 8.8".
