312??
I was lookin at some old Fords and I saw a 58 Ford truck. I asked the guy what kind of engine it had and he said it had a 312 in it.
My question is what other types of engines did they put in in that year if it is not a 312. Thanks for the help.

Hi coolmint94, 
The first half of the 1958 model year production, Ford was still installing the 272 V-8.
about mid-production year, they replaced the 272 with the 292.
Ford was having supply problems during this switch. When they supply ran out on 292's, they substituted with the 312.
Could be any of the three. (272, 292, 312)
The vin number would tell us for sure.
I'm assuming this is a pickup?
The F-750 - F-800 also came with the 302, and 332.

You can go to this website and it will show you a picture that will be helpful in determining what engine your truck has. It will help you to decipher the serial number. Hope it helps.
