1979 Crew cab value

There's obviously not a lot of comparables out there, I'm looking for opinions on what to list my crew for sale at.

It's a true F26, short box 4x4. 400, auto, np205. My build thread is on here, took 2 years, very little went untouched. Paint and body are driver quality, I got in a hurry at the end. Looks ok in passing, you can see the flaws up close. Rest is good. Will need tires soon, but I'll leave that up to the next guy to pick.

Thank guys!

And I suppose I should ask opinions on the best place(s) to list it also. Thoughts there?

Ebay should bring the most coin potential but also the biggest clown potential

Best value would be at either a true auction or bringatrailer.com.

Like mentioned above, you can have a love/hate relationship with eBay

These go for $18K-20K on Phoenix CL all day long regardless of the paint. Definitely advertise it down here. I personally look at both "Auto trader Classics" and "Bringatrailer.com" often so those would both be a great idea. I have bought my last three projects off of Craigslist and use "tempest search" to look at ads from every state. I do this every few days looking for a 78-79 Bronco.

I would try bringatrailer. This guy had a bid of over $52,000, but it didn't meet the reserve. This was only a few weeks ago as well. I didn't look through your build thread, nor have I sifted through the pics of this guy's listing in order to compare the two, but they're both crew cabs, so there's that. lol

Some other bringatrailer listings from the past.

This 4x4 crew cab sold for $41k a month ago.

This 2WD crew sold for 17.5k over a year ago.

I would have thought, start at 15k and you can work your way down if nobody bites. But then again I havent priced these trucks in a while and the prices Doosenberry posted have me blown away.
Craigslist use to always be my go to place for vehicles, but they have really trailed off and Facebook Marketplace seems to be the new go to place. Ebay can be a excellent way to advetise, but be sure to cover yourself thoroughly. I have been screwed over by buyers a couple times there.

I would just add what you likely already know, that with FB Marketplace you get many people asking questions about info that they would know if they bothered to read the adds or they set up times to come look & don't bother to show up.
Haven't done much Craigslisting lately but I'm sure it hasn't changed much.
I'm sorry to se that you're looking at selling it, was looking forward to trying to meet up & see how your SD swap looked in person sometime.

Let's not forget the ebay 'survivor' with rust spots and crappy paint! $30k!

I've told the people that have asked so far $22k. I guess I'll probably not really move on price. I figure the next person has room to have the paint redone and do a few small things and they could flip it if they wanted for a descent profit at those prices. Or someone has a chance to get a driver with the hard stuff done

Haven't made any listings yet, but I think I'll start with facebook and craigslist. If I get nothing I'll go to ebay.

Thanks guys, I'll keep you posted.

Looking forward to what you can sell it for.

No offense but the ones posted from bring a trailer are a little different animal.

I think paint and body work on your truck would take $12kish from a decent body shop....if that helps give any perspective.

Well, it's currently on ebay. Hit my reserve of $18k within a few hours of listing it, started at $1000. I'll update with the selling price so people have a reference in the future.

Wow that was a fast climb! Apparently there is at a least a couple people out there that are very interested. Good Luck with the sale!
