Why is it that when I take off, especially if I take off fast, I have an annoying belt screech? All of the belts are tight and clean. No pulleys seem to be frozen.
Because, if it is what you suspect, the additional torque causes the belt to slip. There may also be some glazing on the belt. You can spray some water on the belt to verify your diagnosis followed by application of a belt dressing to solve it.
Disconnect the alternator to see if it goes away. If you're running an original style you can simply disconnect the regulator connector and that will basically render the alternator non-working
Another method is to drip some water on the belt to see if the squeal stops. Luckily the alternator and power steering pump belts are usually separated from anything else but the water pump, so it's easier to diagnose with the water method. But this is a bit finicky as tests go anyway. But it's quick!
Even before that, you might want to check your battery voltage with the engine running at idle and at speed. Just in case it's under charging initially, then over-charging as you rev the engine.
Alternators are harder to accelerate due to the mass of the spinning bits inside. The water pump and power steering pump are certainly under load too, but they don't seem to cause the squealing as often as the alternator does. Which is why I'm fixating on the alternator initially.
Is yours older? Maybe the bearings are losing a little bit of their luster. Is yours a different type by any chance? Such as a large-case 1G or even a 3G alternator?
Just checking, since the more powerful alternators seem to have this issue quite often when used with V-belts.
