I'm waterproofing a 5.8 in a mud truck. SD, batch fire, nothing special, but I'm relocating the ECU because it just may get wet in the factory location.
Curious about the MAP sensor location and the sensor itself. It's not in a bad location, along the firewall and just below the hood line and I understand the function of the device. It certainly is a long way from the ECU, which is going in a watertight box. What would be the effect of relocating the MAP sensor to the same box, venting it to atmospheric under the hood with a short piece of hose? I can't see anything critical about the original location. This is a full out custom wiring job, so I don't have to retain the stock layout and yes, I do have a good factory wiring diagram on hand.
I believe that is exactly what the PimpX aftermarket EEC does. The MAP sensor is relocated into the EEC box itself.
I don't think there will be any atmospheric pressure difference from under the hood to inside the cab, maybe.
