EBPV Delete

When I go to rebuild my turbo with the KC Balanced Assembly, I want to delete my EBPV assembly to get as much out of the turbo that I can. I figure that I'll just get the deleted pedestal and then I'll mod the outlet. How do I plug the hole in the top? I want to go with the freeze plug route.

Just plug it with proper size plug(i'm too lazy to search the size)..
Or just weld something that fits in there, thats how i did mine back then..

Do I just press in the plug or do I put some type of Loctite on it?

Freeze plugs are just pressed or punched in,no sealant is used.

You could go HAM on your pedestal like I did

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-6637-a-3.html

IIRC I ended up pounding in a 3/4" freeze plug from O'Reillys. Just buy a few different sizes and see which one fits yours best and return what you don't use.

Thumbs up

Swing past your favorite machinist and see if he can sell you one. Mine just gave me one...ran him $1 maybe, but he makes it up on my OM603 head rebuild.

Rudy's I think has a delete pedestal and fapper delete guy for a fair price, I used that then had the stuff ceramic coated.

Pretty sure it's either 20mm or 3/4" for the freeze plug. Folks have reported both working, but some have better luck with either or.

I used a carriage bolt and a nut/washer. Held up fine the past couple years. Was a temp thing and here it is years later.

gosh don’t hold back tell us how you really feel. Sometimes it’s not a bad thing. Makes some nice room and you’ll run a little cooler. There’s pros and cons to any mods you have to decide what’s right for your own application

Ok, I'll bite too. Please help me learn something today.

Among the lesson material, will appreciate a run-down on exactly how the EBPV works to include the conditions when it activates. No techno-babble please as I am rather limited in my depth of knowledge in engineering, but I can follow-along with principles. Looking forward to the lesson

I'll break out the sarcasm:

If I can make 513 RWHP on the dyno with a functioning backpressure valve on my 2000, there's no way it's hindering any performance on a stock-ish 175-210 RWHP 1995-1997 7.3.
