My 5.8 gave me a 22 error code. Vacuum leak? Cant find one anywhere...checked all the vacuum lines and connections I could find and they look O.K. Engine hesitates and is running a bit warm...too rich? Full tuneup 5 months ago and it's been running great til last few days.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanx...
If you are certain you have no leaks, the computer may just think its a leak based on erroneous information. Sounds like a dead or dying MAP sensor to tell the truth. (Up on the firewall just to the right of the A/C bulkhead). If its sending out the wrong info. the computer is trying to compensate when there is nothing wrong. Since the Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor should be the one sending vacuum info to the computer, you may want to check it and its connections. Depending on which type you have, it can be checked either with a standard multimeter or a tachometer.
Thanx for the tip! I checked the voltage and found 5v. Any other suggestions? I'm still checking for leaks. Found a cracked elbow connector on the air diverter. I'll replace that and see.
Here's the way I look for vacuum leaks.
*BE CAREFUL - FIRE HAZARD*
With the engine running, use a can of brake cleaner and spray all the vacuum lines in sight. If the engine produces a miss, or starts to die, the line you were spraying is the culprit. Also check the intake gasket in the same manner. Just keep the spray away from the distributor.
