Suspension Questions

Hey guys, I got an 89 Bronc and I just got some questions:

Someone told me that with IFS it wouldnt be good to put 36" tires on it, is that true?

Someone had also told me that putting a 6 inch suspension lift on it would beat the crap outta the truck and go with a 4 inch with cut out flares to fit the 36" tires, does it really beat up the truck?

What would be the best suspension lift I could buy for the truck?

Thanks, Rich

a 6 inch would not beat the rig up. 36" are fine with light to moderate 4x4 use but thats as big as you want to go. if you go that big its a good idea to regear as well. not sure what tranny you have but a set of 4.56 gears front and rear would be the right combo with that size tire. plus the 4inch and 6 inch are usally the same price through a lot of the different suspen companys. if you go for the 4inch youll end up kicking yourself knowing the 6 would have been better.

good luck.

I'll second most of what Kemicalburns said. I love my 4" lift and never regretted it later. However, if you WANT a 6" lift then don't let anyone tell you it isn't good for the truck. If thats the case, there are a LOT of "sick" Bronco's running around out there. 6" and 35's are pretty common to be honest. 36's are fine too...going much bigger on the 1/2 ton axles can lead to problems if you get off road a bunch. Too much wheel and tire weight to be slinging around under hard conditions if you go much bigger. Otherwise, go for it.
