Well I learned about the PVD flaking wheels today. Needless to say I am not happy about it but will talk with the dealer and see what they say. I put a new set of tires on with only 17,000 on the truck and didn’t expect this. Any one else have any luck with warranty?
Mine did the same, I didn't like em anyway so I replaced them with black 20" Sport wheels. I have read of several members who did get theirs replaced under warranty though so hopefully they'll take care of you. Crummy thing is the new ones will do it too, probably when you have your new Coopers mounted on them.
I agree that the new ones will probably do the same. Also not a fan of the fake chrome look. I am thinking of trying to talk them into the basic silver 18” that come on the XT models. Doesn’t hurt to ask.

The 18" basic silver wheels are a PITA to keep clean. They stain from brake dust pretty easily and are tough to clean because of the design. Just my $0.02, I got rid of my 18" silver wheels because of that.
damn, thats some poor chrome plating.
I hope you get some warranty wheels, if they will be any better who knows, probably not.
Really no way to fix them, my wheel guy cringes at this problem all the time, typically I just replace with aftermarket.
I have had the painted aluminum 18” wheels on 2011, 2016, 2017 and now 2019 F 250s. Have been through many tire changes and many miles on anything from woods roads to interstates and never had any damages. My son has a new GMC with the fake chrome and after 5000 miles already has one rim flaking.
Would the polished lariat wheels stay nice longer?
Absolutely.
I had a set of PVD wheels, the truck was purchased, and immediately had snow tires put on the wheels that day at the Ford dealer. I purchased the truck 6mos later with all the records, and 2yrs later the PVD coating, which is not chrome coating, it's a fake that's supposed to be better. Started to fail. Into the dealer it went, they sent pics to Ford, and a week later I had brand new wheels with my tires back on them.
I don't anticipate them lasting, but the snow tires on them have many more years of service. Ford dealership said they've replaced many PVD wheels, perhaps ford needs to change the process or quit offering them as an option.
Well good news sort of. Lol
Ford agreed to warranty the wheels but only for the same ones. I was hoping to run the current ones until spring but apparently the new ones have arrived. Also still waiting on the upgraded steering stabilizer but not holding my breath.
