Took my truck into a local shop 2 days ago for a trans fluid/filter replacement a while I was there went ahead and opted for the fuel filter replacements as well. Anyways. Took off from the lot and heard a weird humming sound, thought maybe it was me being paranoid. Took it back the next morning. The guy said it was fine. Got home and looked at the lower filter and it was about a turn off, so took it off, inspected ORing, reinstalled until tabs met. Did the 6 cycles and started engine. Now, my secondary filter under the hood is making some pretty rough sounds, Almost like air is running through the hoses and vibrating and also hissing. Drove down the road to see if this was something that would settle, got a low fuel pressure error and truck stalled, 3 times. Took out filter, made sure all connections were tight, reinstalled, noise went away. Did another test drive, still got the error and truck still stalls/slows around 6th gear or 70mph. I have an appointment Monday for the company to take a look but I don’t know what the issue could be. I don’t see why it would be the fuel pump since it was working completely fine and I have never had this issue before. Idk if they bumped a sensor or whatever but I see no noticeable leaks, and there doesn’t appear to be any more cavitation in the piping. All error codes from auto zone was low fuel pressure/leak related.
Did they use Motorcraft filters? If not, I'd switch them out. However, I guess I'd give the shop a chance to make it right. Sounds like you are sucking air, maybe bad oring on bowl?
Before you go too far down the Rabbit Hole.... As stated above, get the OEM filters and give the shop an opportunity to correct the issue. You did not say it went to a Ford Dealership... If it was at Jiffy Lube, that could be the issue.
