And you could park the largest pickup, like one of those Ram 3500 super duper cabs, next to a mining dump truck and it would look like a Tonka toy. It should go without saying, but the smaller truck would be very nimble. The small truck may not be able to easily carry a pallet of sod or a big bed full of fence material, but it will get most non-contractor type jobs done with ease. Quit hatin' on compact trucks.
I have somewhere a pic of my 1992 Suzuki Carry mini truck ( JDM Kei truck ) next to the 1996 F150 that it replaced.. The Carry could fit in the bed of a long bed Ford.. Great truck for a while till the carburator had some issues with the idle control system
That’s a great picture! I love old VWs. I currently have a MKIV Jetta diesel that I’ve fixed up but I’ve been looking for a while to pick up a rabbit pickup. It’s amazing to think what we once considered a “truck” and what we consider a “truck” today
Me too, always have. Those little 5 lug 4 banger Tacomas are invincible machines.
Some of us come from the dark ages of Ford Courier and Chevy Luv trucks. I think those Toyota SR5 and Mazda and Datsuns hung on for quite a while too. I think there is a market for small pickups, but not a real big market.

Lil trucks can hold some weight. At least I know the Rangers can. Toyo springs are much softer in my experience.

These trucks are no longer "small" by "past" standards, but, the combined sales of Tacoma's, Colorado/Canyon's, Frontier's, and Ranger's well exceeded 1/2 million units in 2019.......Not sure if that's a "big" market.....
