6r140 trans temp

Hey guys I have a 2018 f-250 and my trans peaks around 230 when I’m towing a 14k trailer up huge grades and the drops, my question is will this wreck or shorten the life on my truck and when should I change the tranny fluid? Are other people running similiar to me?
thanks in advance

Every 30,000 miles change the fluid and filter. Easy and cheap preventative maintenance.

Highest I've ever seen was 207. This was on my 19 F350 6.2 pulling 10k on a 7mile 5% grade at 95*

The key to keeping trans temps down is to manually shift the transmission to a low enough gear where the rpms are high enough to pull good, and most importantly, keep the torque converter locked. An unlocked torque converter will raise trans temps a lot in a short amount of time.

This is key right here and the main reason I tuned my 6.2 my converter is fully locked from 2nd gear through 6th in towhaul and 3rd through 6th in normal mode. Ford has them lock up I believe 5 Star told me in only 4-6 and only 60% of the time they never fully stay locked up. 5 Star made my 6.2 like driving a totally different truck. After driving it tuned for over a year now I loaded the stock tune back up just to see the difference and man did it suck I got back from town and put my daily tow tune back on it.

I see transmission temperatures in the low 230's in my F-350 when towing up mountain passes and towing my 11K GVWR travel trailer.

I tried forcing the transmission down a gear or two, but I didn't see enough of a change in the transmission temperature to justify manually shifting the engine. On my prior 1/2 ton truck that was a very common and very effective thing to do. I thought I would see a similar effect on my F-350, but it didn't happen. Maybe it was just that instance. I'll try it again eventually.
