Just be glad the factories are running guys, my 2020 F550 was ordered at the beginning of January, showed up the end of July, 7 1/2 months, now THAT was a long wait!

My 2021 F600 is due here in 2 weeks (built 11/9), that was ordered the beginning of August. But I had realistic expectations on that truck with the model year changeover, and don't plan to have the upfit done until the end of January/early February, in service goal of March 1st.

I wish mine would of came in at 2-3 months. Ordered in Sept of 2019 and finally got it July of 2020. Of course I wanted a 2020 and Silver Spruce which the color wasn't available until the end of March. Then Covid came as it was scheduled for the first week of May to be built, instead it was pushed out to July. Over 10 months later I finally got it! No regrets at all for the wait. Pickup is awesome! Well worth the wait for me.

For 2021’s 6-8 weeks from date of order to build week has been pretty consistent. Where it all goes awry is your options and your location. Just spoke to dealer and my truck should be about a week away, but he warned that they have an F-150 that has been at rail yard for four weeks. To be fair he said they think it’s been damaged, but they can’t get any answers from Ford.

I’ll lose my mind if it takes four weeks when it’ll be 30miles away...

I'm only two weeks in and the wait is killing me haha. I just got my VIN today though, so that was nice to actually see the truck on the tracking website. I really need my truck by April so I am praying for 12 weeks or less in order to have time to do some mods before a trip I have planned.

Mine sat in the rail yard for 6 weeks.

The rail yard is only 6 hours away from me....so I was like a toddler who couldn't reach the cookie jar on the counter. So close, yet I couldn't have it no matter what...

My understanding is to be cost effective they will sit at the rail yard until a full load can be assembled that will be in the same area, so the drivers being more efficient and saving money and not driving all over the place with a scattered load.

6-8 weeks from date of order pull to scheduled production week may be well be typical. Point is, that is not what the OP's dealer said, and as you point out represents about half of the time and activity between customer placing a dealer order, and customer driving away with their truck.

We (and particularly the dealer) should stop setting expectations with folks that don't understand the process. We should just point folks to the dealer order threads here and elsewhere so they understand why it often takes 14 weeks (or more) for them to get their truck from the date they "order" it.

Either that, or say "12 weeks, +/-"
