I’m in Cleveland OH and it does get to -10. I also park outside. I noticed it was an option and was curios if the heater is in preinstalled in all the blocks.
I was wondering if the block heater is preinstalled in all 7.3 blocks? Then i could just order the proper cord from Ford.
some of these guys just dont get it and never will. get yourself the blockheater and dont look back. hek i put one on my car. why? because there wasnt one reason not to
Block heaters aren't for just diesel motors. They've been offered on gas motors for over 50 yrs by multiple manufactures...It doesn't come standard on a super duty but is an option. Cheaper to order it on a build but can be installed after delivery.
It keeps your cooling fluid warm is all ( I believe )
I'm a proponent of plugging in. Test it sometime and start it at -20C plugged in vs not plugged in, just starts so much easier. Just don't get those that brag that it will start at any temp.
Ok but has anyone looked at the block? Is the heater there? Then all i have to purchase is the cord. On my 6.7 PS the heater was in the block. No need to order the expensive option. Just by the cord and plug it in.

I'm wondering the same thing, I'll look tomorrow an see if there is one there (2021 F450 CC 7.3)
In a previous thread I was told the new 6.7’s do not have the element installed you have to either option it or order the full kit now. I challenged this as the 6.7l build book says it’s pre-installed on all engines. Apparently the later models they stopped putting the element in. So would say no way that it will be there in the 7.3L, but not sure if any one has looked to make sure it’s not there.
And agree those that don’t live in cold just don’t know the advantages, but soon as you experience cold that destroys batteries. leaves tires with flat spots you’ll soon learn why block heaters have been available in all engines for many many decades. -40F without windchill is the coldest I’ve experienced and it destroyed many blocks and batteries for those that didn’t prepare.
I think it depends on which part of the country the truck is delivered to. My 16 6.2 came with the block heater as standard equipment. I neaver used it. Larger because my truck is parked inside at home and there is usually no where to plug it in when I park at work. Some will disagree with me but it doesn’t usually get very cold here. We get a week or so of sub 0 temps and that’s the low very seldom is the high below zero.
The short answer is no, it's not automatically pre-installed but you could get lucky and get one with the element installed, in which case, you just need the $80 cord. I just installed one on my 6.7 and it's not a bad process, I can't imagine it'd be any different on a 7.3.
Well I just got my f350 srw crew 7.3 about a week ago (2020, Aug manufactured). Tell me where/how to look and I will. No idea what to even look for. I'm a novice gear-head.
if the complete block heater assembly was installed it should say on your window sticker. otherwise just crawl under and look at the side of the block somewhere
