Have a 90 full size Bronco 302, driven down road 75mph and just quits (0 rpm) instantly couple seconds later starts back up (has auto tranny)? Drive mile down road and it quits again. Sat on side of road 5 -10 minutes at most. Starts back up And I drive maybe 10 miles more and it dies again. I sit for at least 30-40 minutes and it starts back up. At this point I start shaking all wires from front to back including full pump wires. I drive off again and go 15 miles stop at a gas station turn truck off and get a coke come back out and truck wont start? Sat there 45 minutes or so. took distributor off to looked at cap/rotor they were good. Fuel pump primes when you turn ignition on. After I put distributor back on started up. Got home and let truck run for at least two hours never could duplicate problem again checked resistance on secondary and primary coil all great, had ecm bench checked was good. Pulled Ecm code and it gave me code 081 which says Thermactor Air divert solonoid circuit. It gives you the checks for this and says that if no trouble found replace ecm?? After reading info on the Thermactor Air divert solonoid circuit it sounds like its not needed to run truck? Does it need it? Im lost man need some help. By the way drove truck the next day 40 miles to work never quit.
All temp, amp, volt, oil readings good 70 degree day.
The first thing that came to mind after reading your problem was the fuel filter. However you did the code read and it said your air bypass/antistall solenoid was malfunctioning. Yes, you do need this little device on your truck for it to operate properly! I am no expert but I have owned 4 different Ford vehicles in the past. I have replaced this same part on every one at some point! Still I believed that the solenoid has more to do with the vehicles' idle speed, rather than running conditions. My best guess is it may be sticking open and letting too much air in, stalling the motor.??
I'd change the solenoid and go from there if problem persists. Happy 5.0-oing!! Let me know what happens. Later,

P.S. 30-45 min is way longer than could stand on the side of the road! Makes you wanna put a in it!!
After another breakdown I traced it to the power line tho the ecm it was arching and I think it finally shorted the ecm out along with that it killed the coil. I replaced both and now it screams like a raped ape once more. Thanks for the help gents.
Hey, chevellelover, glad you fixed your problem.
