ENGINE red warning light
What does it indicate? Should I not drive it at all?
The thing is- I am trying to get rid of a "check engine"-condition.
I had a shop do a tune-up; plugs, cables, fuel filter, distr cap.
Found no vacuum leaks.
That did help.....for about half a day.
Then I cleaned the IAC, added injector cleaner to the fuel and made sure all air was out of the cooling system. Helped a lot!
Then the heater core went down causing loss of coolant and rough running and erratic shifting plus more "check engine".
Changed heater core, O2 sens, changed autom. fluid and filter, filled up coolant and still have the "check engine" and slight misses when picking up speed slowly.
Fully synthetic oil, -still clear, exhaust fumes seem normal, -no white fog, no black smoke.
And now the "ENGINE" light on top of that.
Please help!
I simply assume u experts out there will figure this one out in no time!
I haven't pulled the codes yet. Seems only one shop (Ford dealer) have the gear. I will have it done asap.
Oil pressure reads stable, but a little low, perhaps. Will check unit.
Will also check if there's exhaust fumes in coolant, as I'm beginning to suspect a leaking head gasket... Wish me luck.
My van runs like new thanks to the Forum,
.... one new battery and two rounds of injector cleaner.
I was close to selling the thing, but thanks to the optimism of the forum, I kept on trying different tricks,- and now it works!
