So everyone knows that Covid has been running rampant destroying many of our plans this year, I think that we can all also agree that everything else this year also seems to be fubar, not just Covid. Tonight Ketchikan is getting alerted that one of our dams is going to fail and wipe out downtown and a couple of neighborhoods, this area contains many of our small businesses, and they have ordered mandatory evacuation and whatnot, they are already looking for volunteers for when it goes, but maybe we will get lucky and it may not break. This year has had way too many downs, family issues, social issues, its like what the heck people I just want to finish my school and work in a trade, perhaps finish my truck which has been stalled for nearly a year now. Sorry for that rant its just that there is bound to be some good in this last month of 2020 right? Anyway going to look for positivity tonight, hope the dam holds together, and wish that if the dam does break it does not turn our downtown and our neighborhoods into a ghost town.
Sorry to hear the dam is in jeopardy--that can't be easy to just wait to see what does--or does not--happen. Honestly with that possibility looming I'd take the smart route and GTFOT as quickly as possible.
2020 has indeed been a year to remember for a lot of reasons---most just nothing we'd ever imagine in our wildest most troubling dreams. Not to make fun of your situation but here's a t-shirt that best sums it all up:
I know that there has been record amounts of rain in AK this year...lots of damage and people missing in Haines this past week. Not sure where Ketchikan is in relation to Haines...but...I imagine you were affected by the rain as well.
