2005 F-150 No Turn Signals, Brake lights or Flashers

2005 Ford F-015 5.4 crew cab. Driving to work and I put on my turn signal and it gave me the quick clicking indicating a burned out bulb. I checked all lights and all the bulbs are fine. Then I realize I have no brake lights or flashers. Youtube searches tell me it is the multiswitch in the steering column and others tell me to clear the codes to fix it. Before I spend $135 on a switch, does anyone here have any experience with this issue?
Thanks,
David

Check these things first before blaming the multi-function switch; Fuse 13-10amp and Fuse 2-20amp in Central Junction Box CJB. There should also be an Indicator Flasher Relay {behind left side of dash} according to my wiring diagram that may be defective.

The flasher cannot cause this symptom.

The 05 has a MFS but there is no "programming" possible regarding brake lamps or turn signals. That came in later models.

I'd recommend that you check the wiring harness on the steering column to see if it's been stretched by a tilt column that has been lowered all the way.

Since the brake circuit does not run through the flasher it is 99% the MFS or the harness going to it since that is the only place all circuit converge.

You might also check the ground wire behind the kick panel on passenger side.
My blinkers wouldn't work if the lights were on. Here's what I found. Cleaned up the ground terminal, reattached it to good metal; problem solved.

A compromised ground will not cause the OP's issue it would indeed cause yours in which an unusual dependency was observed. The OP has an open or compromised circuit on the supply side rather than the return side of the circuit.

Since it's been almost 2 months since he posted, it's likely a moot point by now anyway.

Since this seems to happen a lot, then that's just one heck of a major design flaw.

It's the consequence of all the leaky windshields causing corrosion and body rot.

Maybe not the source of the problem for the original poster.

But here it is, in case anyone wants to look at it.
