Caster Angle
been fixing driveshaft angles along this project but I haven’t been able to find any good info on caster. The axels came from a 74f250 highboy. I know caster is supposed to be between 3.5-4.5 positive( upper kingpin aft of the lower kingpin). But I can’t find a place to get an accurate measurement. So does anyone know where to measure from? Or the relationship between the pinion and caster?
thanks in advance!
Did you cut the spring mounts off the axle and weld on new ones?
Did you measure between the spring mounts and the pinion face to see what this was?
If you had the pinion face 90* to the floor then dropped a plumb bob down the kingpins or ball joints and measured the difference that would be the caster angle no?
To change this you would use shims between the springs and the axle to rotate it just like to change the pinion angle.
If the axle was level could you drop the bob along the hub face to measure the camber?
Again I don't think either could be changes as it is built into the axle.
