2000 Excursion with an AXD0 PCM with the PATS. Hydra says run VNAB1Y2 files, I do so and also click the "PATS equipped" at the bottom of the HydraFlash programmer. Load a single file, PHP flashes like usual on the Hydra and the THEFT light goes crazy with a no start. Go back to 00 and it starts right up. Was really diligent while cleaning the contacts and used a high power flash light to inspect for left over silicone as not to over do it. Look at the Hydra FAQ and it says to unplug the PATS module under the dash. I do so, and the truck will only run 3 seconds on 00 and a no start on 01. Remove Hydra with PATS unplugged, still 3 second run/stall.
Next I tried the key on for 45 seconds, key out for 30 seconds to reset with PATS (with Hydra on 01) blinks like crazy and stops at 45 seconds, wait 30 with key out. Go to start back up, THEFT light starts blinking rapidly. Key turned over the SES light flashes and goes out like normal. Also tried, start truck on 00 and switch to 01 and get an instant stall. Had an older SCT flash tuner that would trip the PATS and it could be overrode with the key procedure.
Don't worry about the P1000 code. It's irrelevent at this point. What IS happening is that the Hydra isn't bypassing the last section of the calibration information and allowing the PCM to read the VID block (contains the PATS information) directly from the PCM memory.
Disconnected the batteries for the heck of it, and also tried a VRAA6Y3 Excursion tune just see if anything would change, still nothing. Looked more at the connection to the PCM and you can see that it is making a clear connection to the PCM. Also looked inside the Hydra connection itself, perhaps a bit of silicone got into the contacts, clear. Connection to the wire loom at the firewall seems good and tight.
Wasnt clean enough. Watched a video of Bill from PHP and he really scrubbed that thing. Guess I was being a bit to reserved when removing the silicone.
