EFI conversion

I am learning that it is possible to convert most engines to fuel injection. Has anyone done this with the 170? What is a good EFI system to use. Someon suggested the Fitech 2 barrel, but I wondered if anyone here had experience with any of the conversion systems out there. If it is pretty straight forward, I could probably do this myself, otherwise, I would need to take it somewhere to install it. Please let me know your thoughts.

I have a 63 Econoline with the 170 engine and manual trans. Thanks in advance!

FiTech is not user friendly and the CS is terrible. Holley now has the 1bbl EFI kits available and the Holley allows much deeper fine tuning.

Nice, I'm checking out the Holley right now. Looks like it is a direct replacement for the Autolite 1100 carb which I have.

I just ordered the Holley 1bbl EFI kit and the fuel pump kit. I'm excited to install it when it arrives. I am wondering where I connect the temperature sensor on the 170 engine. Are there spots already there that I can use or does it require drilling a threaded hole to install the sensor? It says it needs to be in a place that has constant coolant flow. Is there some kind of heater hose adapter that could go inline with the heater hose that would include a threaded port to install the sensor? I'm just thinking through this stuff before the stuff arrives so I have an idea what to do when they get here. I think I can figure out the rest.

Great! Just got an email that the fuel pump kit got cancelled. When I ordered, it said it was the last one, so I'm guessing they actually ran out and someone else go the last one. Is there a fuel pump kit that anyone can recommend? Here is what they say about the fuel pump needs in their install literature:

The Sniper EFI system requires a high pressure fuel pump capable of operating at 60 psi. When selecting a pump and lines, be sure each component is designed to perform at high pressure.

Trying not to spend a fortune here, but get the job done correctly.

With the temperature sensor, would it be better to get an in-line radiator hose adapter with a port for the sensor? I could put the adapter in line on the lower radiator hose.

Another question if anyone knows the answer. Do you know what the thread size would be on the port of the outgoing heater hose? I'm thinking I could add some kind of a tee to it to allow the hot coolant to continue through but add a 3/8 thread on the side for the temperature sensor. I am thinking it would be 5/8 NPT right? So it currently is a 5/8" male NPT to 5/8 barbed? And I would want a 5/8" NPT Male to 5/8" NPT female (where I would attach the current 5/8" male to 5/8" barbed) with a 3/8 female on the side?

I've been searching for something like this without much luck. Help appreciated. Thank you!
