Ford 352 Cam

I'm looking for a cam for a 352 I want decent millage, torque, and would like it to rumble a little at idle. The engine is in a 1964 Galaxie 500. The engine is completely stock.

390GT/428 cam.

Similar to this one:

However:

Decent mileage--always a dream with an FE and a 352 in particular. It will remain so.

Torque--you'll get more, but you'd get a lot more with a 445 stroker. Cylinder pressure is important, but displacement drives the train here.

Rumble--a little.

Not going to get a lumpy idle with the GT/CJ cam. I ran the Crane 272 degree Energizer in a stock 68 high comp 390 and it had just a hint of a lope when cold, smoothed out when warmed up. This was in a 68 Merc Monterey with 10.5 to 1 comp ratio.

What transmission? What rearend gear? Tire diameter? Headers? Exhaust? Intake? Carb? These parts and more factor into what you can run and be satisfied with.

It ain't that complicated. He's got a full size car, Auto trans, likely 3.00 rear. I doubt he's got headers, unless he sprung for FPA's.

Might try finding an engine builder who has done many FE's. Get their recommendation for cam and get the accompanying parts to go with it all at the same time. Theoretically have better chance of success on the first try.

I'm partial to a hydraulic roller cam since I now have one. For me, it helped my fuel economy. I got about 0.5 to 1 more mpg when I switched from high zinc oil (needed for flat tappet) to modern oil.
