This on a 2V 4.6 but please timing set experts don't stop reading!
I'm doing a timing set on this 4.6 and found a bit of interference between this "rib" in the LH lower guide and this "nub" on the block. Seeing no other alternative and reasoning that it doesn't affect strength of the guide we simply shaved down the offending rib.
The parts are from MMR -- I ordered their kit of OEM chains and "quality aftermarket" guides.
The left and the right are very different. We were referencing the FSM and kept checking to see if we somehow had them mixed up or if we somehow managed to have this one backwards, upside down, inside out LOL etc
Still appreciate the reply and wonder if anyone else has encountered this?
Did the engine originally have all plastic guides? Rockauto shows a metal/plastic guide and a second Windsor style all plastic guide like your pictures.
