On your sticker, to the right of "WB", you will see "Type-GVW". Below that is "K74231". Or it could just be "K7423", with the "1" being part of the next group for the body code.
With older trucks and decodes, I would take "K74" to be the specific model, and "23" to mean 23,000lbs when listed under GVW. The on-line decoder says 26,000. Maybe there is another label. Either way, you are safe from CDL requirements, and you have plenty of capacity.
I have a 1988 Ford Manual and your gvr code and trans code aren't in it but most of the rest is. 6.6L ford Diesel, class 6 truck (up to 26,000gvwr) with hydraulic brakes, axle's are 7,000lb front and RS-17-220 rear with 4.88/6.80 ratio's

please decode this vin and the type-gvwr and axle/trans if you would. Thanks so much. Just picked up this truck.
My decoder ring says:
1FD incomplete vehicle (cab&chassis, which actually means the GVWR is left to the final assembler)
N hydraulic brakes 19,501-26,000 GVWR
K70 F700 with a ford diesel motor
D 6.6 Ford/New Holland engine
check
J 1988
V Kentucky plant
CW FS4005A 5-Speed manual
W8 2s-17-220 axle, 4.86/6.80 ratios on a two speed axle
M 7000lb front axle, power steering
1988 means you are likely to have a Bosch P-pump on that 6.6, you can turn it up some but it's a small pump so you won't get much more out of it.
The 6.6 motors are pretty under-powered but otherwise are pretty solid and reliable.
The 2-speed axles give reliability issues but mostly work as long as you shift them properly.
With the 2-speed rear and 5-speed main, you can tow a lot but *very* slowly. The 4.86 is one of the faster finals for this truck though so cruising speed on the flat shouldn't be too bad ~60MPH?
Since Ford shipped as an incomplete vehicle, the final GVWR depends on the spring pack in back and whatever the final assembler put on their decal, within the range specified by the class code (19501-26000).
