Door Parts

I recently started taking apart my 1953 F100 door parts. The window crank, door locks, etc. are all in good working order, just very dirty and surface rust. Any suggestions on how to clean these up. I don't really want to blast any of these parts, as i think the find dust will get into all the working mechanical parts and just create more issues.

Any other ideas or suggestions? I am going to get new felts and guides, but all the other parts seem to be in very good working order.

Don't blast them. As you surmised, that won't help anything. Start by getting some solvent and soak the parts in solvent overnight. That will loosen the grease and grime and with a little elbow grease and scrubbing, they should clean up pretty good. Don't be afraid to scrub with a scotchbrite pad if it's stuck on harder than a brush will remove. Once they're good and clean, they can be treated with metal prep or similar acid product to clean the surface rust and leave behind a protective coating. After that you can paint them or leave them as is and put them back in service. Lube hinge points with white lithium grease.
