5.4 Engine lugs/surges
My 2001 one owner F250 does this thing when I haven't driven it for 4-5 days of below freezing weather. It starts up OK but the engine surges and the gauges all run up and down in step with the engine surges. It goes away pretty quickly. I think it may have something to do with the battery being a little run down. It only does this when it's below freezing and has set for about a week. It doesn't do it at any other time. It's done it for several years but I didn't worry too much. It happened to my wife the other day for the first time and so she asked me to look into it.

I suggest to check your ground cable off battery. I had a weird intermittent electrical oddity some time ago, on random bumps or turns. Ground cable was flakey. Replaced with Napa, and no more issues.
