I will be putting on Bilstein ride height shocks set at 1.75 with gator back flaps. Is it the width of the tire that rubs or the diameter of the tire. These are the size of tires I have found. What one will fit with out rubbing 275/65/20 diameter 34.1" width10.8" or 285/60/20 diameter 33.5" width 11.2" and there is the 305/55/20 diameter 33.2" width 12". I have a KR wheels are stock with a diesel or should I set at the highest setting for the weight of the diesel? Would like a little rake Just trying to get it right. Thanks
At 1.75” I would recommend the 285/60/20. The 305 is wide, heavy and ride poor. So wide that it would rub at full lock, and probably on your flaps, with stock wheels. 295 width tire will just clear with no rubbing, that’s with no flaps. My opinion is that the 275/65/20 at 34.1” is a little too tall for a 1.75” level. I understand that the ride can be harsh on the 2.1” setting.
These are 305/55/20's at closest crank to the fender wells. They are not E rated tires, they are 116's and the ride is hardly any different than stock.
Do they make a lot of noise going down the highway? Do they were good?
They hum a bit on the highway but don't interfere with anything, not what I'd consider intrusive at all. I bought the 150 for ride and quite after a lifetime of 250-350's, I have no regrets with the tires so far. As far as wear goes, I have no idea, I only have a few thousand miles on them.
I will have to look. I told the shop to set at 1.75, but they called and said the shock did not have a 1.75 setting. So I told them to set at the next to the last highest setting. The before and after is front 37 1/8 before after 39.75 rear 39 1/8 after is 40 I did buy and install Bilstein as a set off Stage 3 . But it would appear they set them at the highest setting.
About 5/8” to 3/4” of that is due to your new 33” tires vs your worn 32” tires. Once you have several hundred miles on the new shocks they will settle slightly. The highest perch is 2.1”, so it looks like that’s where they set it.
