Super Duty Computer Access

Other than reprogramming a Super Duty's computer using a commercial device, has anyone ever attempted to interface a laptop to an SD's computer?

I am an engineer and am curious to know what type of information can be obtained from the onboard computer. I'd like to answer questions like, "What is the highway cruising speed that results in maximum fuel economy?"

Yes, there are such gadgets that can pull continuous information like you want. They plug into the industry-standard OBD-2 data port in your vehicle, have an interface cable and let you get real-time information on a laptop or PDA.

Spend some time doing a web search using the term OBD-II or OBD-2 and you'll run across those sort of products and software providers. Some are simple code scanners, others pull real-time operating information.
