Hey folks just wanted to get some opinions.
Currently me and my wife have been traveling and living in an RV full time for a year. We have decided to sell that and buy an outlander camping trailer.
We have an 01 Excursion and I'm looking for some ideas and not to expensive upgrades for it for this type of camping.
if also like to maybe hear any suggestions from anyone who has lived in an outlander.tent for am extended period.
We're shooting for 6+ months.
Well, I'm 6'3/240 lbs and I wouldn't dream of living in a RTT for 6mo single, let alone married. I'd think converting the interior space of the Ex into decent living quarters with a roof mounted basket and awning combination would be more ideal, and then tow a small exploration vehicle behind you, like a modified Samurai or 4-door Sidekick. I spent 2 months living in a tent trailer when I first moved to Montana, but working during the day at the local hospital. I refused to cook in the same room that I slept for fear or getting my professional clothing ruined with the smells of the previous nights' dinner. Since it was just me (family moved out when I found us a decent rental), I kept my stuff on the 2nd bunk and slept on the king bed. Kitchen area only kept my hygiene stuff and a few non-perishables., otherwise I cooked outside or ate out at restaurants exclusively. Not know what you do for income, but I couldn't imagine living in one for much longer than I did unless I was on a permanent sight-seeing trip.
I'm retired. So our plan is to stay for 4 to
5 days at a time. Pack up resupply and go to another area for 4 to 5 days. Stay in hotel for 3 to 4 days then back on the road. Were looking to spend 6+ months.
We've found a trailer tent combo and are wanting to make it for off grid use. I would be really interested to see some solar ideas and kitchen ideas.
