03 f350 7.3 problems
Rebuild the 02. On the 06 the Brakes, rotors, ebrake, cables, are different, stock 16 in rims won’t fit, have to go to 17 in rims, then the 17 in rims have a deeper offset and rub on the tie rod ends and then need 1/4” spacers to fit. It is do-able but expensive.
also the engine reported to have hard/no start( I just bought this truck, got good deal—not!!!) found someone has been into engine compartment- new CPS, but appeared tab was loose, like someone removed metal tab for??? I put in the dark grey one from a 94 7.3 as per deadhead diesel, filled HPOP reservoir, still no fire. I had just bought a MX+ dongle and Torque pro app for my android phone and put same on IPad - the IPad one is terrible , the phone one probably works good, when I can figure out how to work it. But on Sun afternoon, outside, 5 deg C,
rain, is not the time to fool with a computer!!- finally put in a manual 0-2000 psi gauge, tried to start and after 7 secs on starter, I went and got my 0-5000 psi gauge, cause the needle on my 2000 gauge looked like a helicopter rotor😬😬.
After putting in the 5000 psi gauge the pressure went to 3600 so proved my IPR and HPOP was ok. Put multimeter on glow plug relay and found nothing. Put on new relay and fired it up. Forgot to mention the truck had been sitting for 2 yrs, because owner couldn’t find problem of no start( intermittent) at local shop either. So fuel was old, I put in some anti gel and 25 litres of new fuel, so that probably helped to start, ( I put the gauge in the left cyl head test port)
what I learned was- read forums on this site for problems- go to basics- manual gauges and multimeters and most times you find problem!
thanks everyone for your posts.
Bumping it to the top, so that the FTE members with a lot of experience with the 7.3L PSD engine in the 99-03 genre can have an opportunity to see this as yet unanswered question, and offer some help.
