While I have my dash and various other parts disassembled right now, I'm wondering what parts/things I can do to rebuild/improve my steering column. 78 F250 4x4 Supercab 4 speed. I already plan to replace the steering box with a Blue Top steering box, but I'm sure there are parts in the column itself that could use some attention as well. Thanks.
One of the good upgrades I did to my truck column was to replace the plastic bushing at the box end of the column with a nice bearing. It was inexpensive, on ebay, and easy to install. Below.

Got it. Ordered. $39.00 free shipping, no tax. Thanks! Removed steering shaft and painted the shaft. Old plastic bearing didn't feel like it was doing anything. Looking forward to having the actual steel bearing on there. Any thoughts as to the tar paper/jute padding that attaches to the firewall? Should I bother with trying to piece mine which is falling apart back together? I'm going to be putting sound deadener on the firewall.
