I know I am wearing this out but once again I am having my 03 EB 4X4 Mfg in June 03 drift slightly to the right and the front right feathering with the steering wheel just a hair to the right. The dealer aligned it again today and it is just the same as when I took it in. By the way it had those Continentals on it but I bought a set of Michelin Cross Terrains and the shaking stopped and yes it drifted with the Continentals as well.
1. Does the 03 require the alignment kit that I keep hearing about to get a good alignment and if so should the dealer be using this. What is the ford part number for this kit?
2. The dealer called Ford and they told the dealer to set up the following specs to try to get it fixed:
Front
Caster left 5.5 Caster right 5.3
Camber left -0.4 Camber right –0.4
Toe left .10 Toe right .10
Rear
Camber left –1.5 Camber right –1.3
Toe left .10 Toe right .10
Any comments on these settings as to what needs to be done so it will drive true?
In my post above are the numbers from the current set up that Ford told them to try. I copied them right off the print out. I did not include what the specs were just what the final numbers were after the changes that they made. The rear numbers are right on the outer limits of the spec. Any ideas? Is the Expedition difficult to align or just about the same as any 4 wheel alignment. I keep hearing it is hard to get it right. I really don't know anything about it and I wish I did.
When it is aligned at the factory is it put right in the middle of the published spec? How do they do it with trucks rolling off the line? I would like the dealer to just put it back to spec and is spec in the middle of the range? As you can see I am getting a little frustrated, one because I don’t really understand it from a technical aspect, and two because it seems that the dealer is struggling as well. Any suggestions as to what I need to have it set at and I will go somewhere other than the dealer and pay to align it.
