We'll need more information than that. A lot of things can cause sputtering.

Sputtering at 50 to 60 miles per hour?

Sputtering at 50 to 60 miles from where you started?

How many miles are on it?

How many miles are on the spark plugs?

How many miles have you owned it?

Is the Check Engine light on?

Have you obtained codes from the PCM?

If you describe the issue and answer all of these questions over in the "Excursion - King of SUVs" forum you'll see more help than in the "New Member Introductions" forum.

Welcome aboard!

Hi and thank you for your interest in helping me. I have only owned my Excursion for about a month now. It has 87,000 miles rebuilt motor V10 Triton. The problem sputtering has occurred when I am going about 50 to 60 miles per hour. I can power through it by pushing the gas. No check engine light no codes. I figured it was either bad gas or in need of a fuel filter. Thank you

Welcome to the EX forum!
If it powers through the sputtering MPH range, then it doesn't sound like a filter issue. If the age of the spark plugs is unknown I would start there as a miss can give that sputtering feeling and it can vary by speed or RPM. Even at that low mileagae if they are the factory plugs they are now 15 years old.......
If you are going to change the plugs you want to use Motorcraft SP-479 and torque them to 28/32 ft'lbs.
And if you install new plugs you definitely will want to also use new boots and springs for them. Denso is the OEM manufacturer for these parts and the Denso 671-0001 kit will give you 10 new boots and springs. Denso also makes the COPs (Coil On Plug) for these motors, the Denso 673-6000 COPs are about half what Motorcraft branded ones go for. I'm in the camp of those who feel that COPs are either good or bad and need only to replaced when proven to be bad, mine are at 135K and still all original.

Check fuel pressure at the rail also. Mine did that before the fuel pump died, but would otherwise run normally.
