Having a problem with my truck, 89 f250 351 gas, dual tanks. Haven’t used front tank in years, due to transfer valve not seeming to work. Just had issue with front tank overflowing after filling rear tank, so I pulled the transfer valve, freed it up, re-installed, Seemed to fix the pressure to front tank issue. thought everything was good, drove for about 45 minutes just fine, then next time I started it up it started cutting out about 5 minutes into driving. Shut it off, came back out and it would fire up, but then die. I limped it part way home, then it died again near a parts house , so I went in and picked some brains in there. Had fuel pressure at fuel rail, so changed fuel filter, since I’d never done that. It sat all night, just tried it again (2 pm) and it started and ran for about a minute then died, started again and it ran for 30 seconds and died, started again and ran for 10 sec before it died. Could the transfer valve have caused all this? Help

That is a definite possibility. I had and 87 302 with dual tanks. There is a valve reservoir on the frame. Mine would overfill the other tank and run for about 5-7 minutes and shut off then run a minute shut off. If I let it sit overnight I could run again in the morning for 5-7 minutes. To be clear though my setup had the high pressure pump on the frame and low pressure pumps in the tank. I found the valve from a single tank truck and it solved my problem except I could only use 1 tank. The valve for 2 tank setup were very expensive. Hope this helps
I believe there was also pump issues on trucks that only had pumps in the tanks. Just to be clear my truck had the high pressure pump on the frame and low pressure pumps in the tank. My valve was a valve plus a small reservoir on the bottom
