Heater hose flow direction
pre 94 mack trucks had the heater water valve on the inlet of the core.
switch from hot to cold, and the water was turned off and cool external temp air would come through the core in the summer.
94 and later trucks had the heater water valve on the outlet of the core. the only way to keep from cooking in the cab was to turn the water off with the valve directly on the manifold. even with air conditioning, if the manifold valve was not turned off, you got no ac, only heat.
along came the addition of an electric water shutoff valve on the inlet of the heater core in the ac/heat box in 2000 on the Granite, and we no longer had to turn off the water valve on the manifold. just switch from hot to cold and the vent would again blow outside temp air....and the AC would turn the cab into a meat locker.
