I want to improve the performance of my truck and I was thinking of FIPK, exhaust and a JET power module. Anyone have a similar setup? Any potential problems I should be aware of or should I just dive in and go for it? Thanks!
deffinatly the exaust, and some kind of high flow intake, i'm not so sure on the jet chip, maybe someone else knows a little more on that subject. but the exaust and the intake are good areas to cover!
I read in one of my Road and Track's a few months ago about a guy who owned a Mustang GT and noticed a lot of engine pinging. One of the things that was installed was in fact an K&N filter. R&T said that is sometimes the cause of engine pinging on performance automobiles. Would the FIPK contribute to pinging? I am curious, but I know that trucks don't count as high performance autos.

Even though trucks aren't "high performance", SOME people do have problems with the K&N type systems and pinging. As I understand it, too much oil on the filter causes the MAF to become coated with oil and eventually malfunction. This can lead to the pinging problem. For others, they don't have any sort of problem using the K&N type systems. Here's a link on another forum that discusses this situation.
If you don't want to spend the bucks for an intake you can modify the stock airbox by either cutting out a couple of the sides, or just removing the silencer; either way the results will be about the same as you'd get with an intake. I pulled the silencer on mine, and it's not that much louder.
Somewhere on this site (I think it's on FTE) is a link to a Bronco project that documents and tests a lot of different mod options, including intakes. As far as intakes went, an insulated stock airbox without the restrictive silencer gave better results than an aftermarket setup.
