I have a 2004 E450 Splicing Van with a V10. Ive had an issue with the odd rough start here and there. It would start really rough and about 1-2 seconds after completely even out and run perfectly. I had a tune up done, replaced spark plugs and replaced the starter. That issue is still kinda existing but it seems worse.
I'll turn the key over and the starter and everything sounds really healthy and just after it 'catches' i let go of the key, then the engine and starter completely stop and nothing happens, so I have to do it again a few times and eventually turns over. Usually it sounds like its going to start to I let go of the key and theres silence for about 1-1.5 seconds and then it just fires right up by itself.
Issue seems to only happen when its cold out (-10'C) when its warmed up or been running for a while it fires up really quick. Any ideas what it might be?
Starter solenoid going away or there something amiss in the starter engaging circuit from the ignition switch to the solenoid. Does it exhibit these same issues during more consistent warmer days?

Hey JWA! It seems to start really good in the warmer days!

I'd second posting a video----trying to describe these sorts of things isn't as useful as us seeing or hearing something in action.
The fact it seems to do better during warmer days reinforces the idea it could be the solenoid. As things cool down they "shrink" a bit which might put extra strain on that device's operating internals.
