i am hoping someone can help me, recently i decided to change over from a two barrel carb and intake to a four barrel. i purchased a four barrell factory used intake and holley carb, i i striped it down had the intake hot tanked and i ported and polished the heads and intake, upon installation i looked up the torque specs for installition,90 to 100 for the heads, 23 to 25 for the intake, and 17 to 23 for the rockers , the local engine rebuild shop told me to use the high number because i was working on an old motor so i did so,
Now when i start the motor i runs beautifully seems to have power coming out the ying yang, but when i took it for a maiden voyage , shifting from 2nd to third i have no power , the motor stays running but when i call for some ponies it won't excellerate, could this be because valve lash was only set by torqing, or could it be something called a power pickup in the carb
this is a 351 windsor motor
any and all help is appreciated
Go back to the beginning. Re-check the timing to eliminate that. Re-check the air fuel mixture and curb idle speed. With those out of the way you can start looking at other parts of the carb. While you are in there, you should double check for vacuum leaks.

i check all vac lines , and found one out of place but still not generating power also looked for a fuel -air mixture ajustment screw and i can't find one . where it should be there is a port but it is capped off slightly inside the channel any other suggestions
