Had something odd happen yesterday. 2018 6.7 CCLB Dually w/25K on it. Dry weather and has been for a awhile. I was waiting for wife to come out of the store yesterday and after the truck powered down, I hit the radio power button to listen to new, worked as designed. As we were leaving, I tried to turn the radio off and it would not power down. Wife tried to turn it off several times on hour drive home with no success. After we got home, shut truck down, unloaded it and went back out about 15 mins later. All working now as it should. Anyone else had something like this happen? And should I just write it off as a gremlin issue and don't worry about it? No other issues with truck in the past or now.
Mine would not change stations this morning on Sirius-XM. It would play, but could not change. Then for about 5 minutes no sound. Could not toggle between XM, FM, AM either. Update? Not sure. Will find out later today when I start it up I guess.
Mine does weird stuff all the time. The radio won’t respond to the power button so I hit it again. Then after 20 seconds or so, it’ll respond to both pushes of the button and be right back where I started. The dome lights have a mind of their own. AC fan will sometimes not respond to the dial. Push the button to fold the mirrors and only one of them will fold. The list goes on but I’m not a fan of everything being controlled by firmware. What was wrong with a switch that was wired directly to a relay that powered the various accessories?

This sounds totally unrelated but bear with me. I had a 2017 that developed the typical problem with the plug underneath the truck in the spare tire area. All kinds of weird things happened.
Head unit would not respond to commands. Right side window controls wouldn't work but left side would. One turn signal would work but the other would not. Climate controls would not respond. Common denominator? All this & more happened when the brake pedal was depressed.
Of course it all happened when I was in Florida on vacation. Brought the truck to servicing dealer when I got home. They replaced the offending plug due to corrosion and packed with dielectric grease. Never had the issue again.
I just searched for the thread to name all the weird happenings but the function will not take me back to April 2018.
To do a Soft Reboot, when the vehicle is running or when it’s in the accessory / on position, at the same time, just hold down the power button, which is in the center of the volume ****, and the track forward button until the screen goes off. After this happens, just release the buttons and let it do it’s thing.
Most of the time, this will clear up weird issues. You may have to reset the clock after doing this because when I do it, it usually kicks the time back one hour.
To do a Master Reset, just hit the Settings button, then hit General, scroll down to the bottom, and hit Master Reset.
This is a more extreme version of the soft reboot and just like the name says, a Master Reset will put the SYNC 3 system back to factory specs so any radio, Sirius, WiFI, or phone contacts that you’ve setup will be erased and you’ll have to set things up again.
It’s not a big deal but I wanted you to know this if you ever do a Master Reset.
Also, when you hit the Master Reset button, don’t freak out 😱 😧 😂......The screen will go totally black for sometimes as long as 10-30 seconds so don’t worry about it.

I remember seeing the connector issues on the 17’s. When I got my 18, one of the first things I did was pop that thing apart (along with all the others back there) and apply a liberal amount of dielectric grease. Relocated the most notorious of those connectors to a higher and drier location. So far, so good! It’s still dry and corrosion free after almost 3 years. No idea what’s causing my gremlins but so far they’re just an annoyance. Hope it stays that way!
I would like to know how to fix internals of these radios. went to manufacturer of radios they will not sell to public. what a drag. wish for schmatices of internals of the radios. any help will be appreciated. i think replacing radio for 100 used.to 1000 new rough estimates. when it could be a 5 dollar part.
