How many miles on your truck? Have you ever had the diff cover off to inspect the pinion and ring gear? It would suck to find out you have a chipped gear tooth or damaged pinion and suddenly HAVE to replace everything. I would inspect your diff, remove the cover, clean everything up look for any damage or areas of concern. Keep in mind that the TruTrac needs to be matched to your gears so make sure you get the correct model for your current gears, that being said, Now would also be the time to consider a re-gear or replacement should you find damage. IF you decide to re-gear to deeper gears you will need a different model TruTrac so a pre-inspection of your Diff is important! If you decide on a full re-gear have the shop buy the gears and bearings after consulting with them on what brand(s) they recommend and you both agree on.
I re-geared to 4:10’s, added the TruTrac and obviously new bearings. I bought the TruTrac for a D80 4:10’s for $260 new and had the shop buy the gears, bearings etc. He charged me $800 for installation, gears and bearings. He’s located in Parker, CO which is about 15 hours North of Yuma, AZ. PM me if you want his information.
Also keep in mind most installers recommend a minimum of 500 miles on the gears (heat and cooling cycles) and a fluid change before towing.
The Ford 10.5 has no carrier break, you can use the same Truetrac for any gear ratio, but I would recommend keeping the 3.73s.

4.10 and 4.30 seriously help with heavy towing, I prefer 4.10 with a zf6 and 4.30 with a 4r100. This is with stock 31.6" tires size (265-75/16)
Depends on where you are towing and the speeds you like to be at
here is a good site for tire size and gearing calculations RPM CALC

I like this one better Gear Ratio Calculator .
For gearing I certainty wouldn't want 4.10s or 4.30s on stock size tires, I don't know why everyone believes these truck need to turn at such a high rpm when towing, its not a gas engine. 3.73s and 35s is a good combo for me, you can always downshift if you have to.
Other then highway, I can run the same or lower rpms with my 4.30 gears and stock tires as you can with 3.73 and 35s. @65 towing a 12k 5th wheel I am at about 2140 which is about as good as it gets for truck throttle response. I have no need to go any faster then that with the trailer and my family. I also see very little to no highway travel unless going on a camping trip.
Personally you couldnt pay me to run 3.73s with 35" tires, especially towing heavy. I would rather let roll off a cliff. Gears help that much, most people who say they dont have never actually run a truck geared for working. Gearing is not about rpms, it is about a mechanical advantage.

35's and 3.73....is miserable while hooked to 10k at anything under 65mph....maybe even under 70.
on my truck, which is mostly stock, sans a wicked wheel, S&B intake, 4" turbo to tail with muffler and a tony wildman 60 hp tow tune.. pulling a 8K RV I have found if I can keep RPM around 1800 to 2K I can pull most stuff no problem.. but to do that i need to be a like 68 MPH which to too fast for me. I like to run around 62-65 and teh RPM is 1500 which is too low and when trying to keep some speed will run the EGT up.
having 200 more RPM would be such a good thing and it appears to not hurt overall MPG if I was reading what john was saying.. . I think between teh two tru track and 4:10 gears will be awsume or just sell this and get a 2018 6.7 4x4 adn be done with it.. ??

Are you towing in the interstate? If so I don't see how 68 is too fast I have been through NC many times and its it's pretty flat until you get to the Western part of the State then it still isn't that bad. The speed limit is mostly 70 mph you should be able to run at least that or even 75-80, even on the 60hp tune.
yes towing on interstate, and other roads. have been out west.. SD, WY, UT, etc, where you can run into a 3 mile 5% grade on I-70 or more east on I-70 heading east the 7-8% grade going up to Ike tunnel at loveland ski area..
68 is too fast for ME.. I get passed by 35-40ft 5th wheels going 70 plus on the interstate where you have a 80 MPH speed limit like you see in SD, WY etc.. WHY.. I was an OTR truck driver in the 80's and had enough stupid *** "4 wheelers" doing stuff that make you go,, WTF.. Speed is not your friend with tires, stopping etc.. plus at 62-65 MPH with NO or light wind i can average about 12.5 to 13 MPG towing a 8K RV.. (airstream) at 70 it drops to 10 and add any kinda head or front quarter wind, lower..
higher RPM at 63 MPH (4:10 gear) would allow me to pull the 5-6% grades at that speed with out have to down shift (od off) which now is about 52 MPH at 2K rpm with plenty of power to accelerate if needed.
the tru track will help with boondock stuff we do with desert sand areas.

Going at least the speed limit and not impeding traffic would be a couple good reasons to go faster then 65.
the limit is to keep you from going too fast, it is not a minimum suggested speed. Left lane is there so young dumb guys, and small passenger vehicles can go fast, we dont impede at all

People that do that are impeding traffic I see it on a daily basis almost.
