I have a 79 f150 to which stock taillights are 1157 and I am thinking about running 2057. 2057 are much brighter but does anyone know if 2057 bulbs run hot? I don’t want to be sitting at a stoplight melting my housings. Thanks in advance
it just depends on how long you expect your brake lights to be on. There was a recent thread where somone had the wires crossed with an 1157, so the brake light filament was on when they turned on the running lights, and it started melting the lens. You maybe better off going with an LED conversion.
The 1157 is a brass body & a little brighter stop & turn light. The 2057 is a stainless steel body, longer life & not quite as bright. If your lights are dim you may need new sockets or clean grounds , my 1157 are quite bright in my opinion

Thank you for the quick response! I don’t have a problem with how bright the 1157 are it’s just I only have 2057 in my stock right now and was wondering if I would be okay running them or if I should go out and buy 1157.
