towing with o/d on
Many people say that you should tow with overdrive on and some say without. I have an E150 conversion van with a 4.6 liter engine and carrying 4500 pounds of supplies (including the trailer) I'm not sure if I should use overdrive to tow or not. I'de like to know what people think about towing with overdrive. Thanks.

The 4.6 probably won't pull the load in OD unless you have 4.10 gears. Try it in OD and if you find it is downshifting everytime you go up a slight grade or worse, constantly "hunts" for the right gear, you need to take it out of OD.

Towing in OD is a bad idea. The loading and the heat generated with no payback. I don't believe you would see any increase in mileage and from anyone I have spoke to it is a death sentence for your tranny.
