Just keep fiddling with that release button and shaft, it will pull apart if you bite your tongue just right. Seems like some of the early mustang people are using electronic ivr. May be adaptable? I remember slapping top of dashboard on more than one Ford to get the gauges back to normal.

I think my IVR has seen better days to.. But mine has an additional part. Not sure if that part is super special. out of a early 73 F100.
