I just put on the Heart Throb deep tone cat back system and its starting to rust a little . If any of you know what type of high temp paint i can get that controls rust like a rustoleum or something that would kick ***. Thanks
Get engine paint as opposed to rustoleum. It will hold up better to the heat extremes it will be subjected to. Just use some steel wool and metal polish to remove the rust first.
Glad to help I had rust probs on an exhaust on a previous car, did the same thing and it controlled it pretty well. Just try to use a lighter colored paint so you can see if you get any major chips or scratches (so you can see if it starts to rust again) and do touch-ups when necessary.
Make sure you clean the piping really good & coat them really well. I'd get silver paint so it looks like regular piping and if it starts rusting you'll be able to see where. I paint all of my exhaust pipes/mufflers/etc. with black BBQ paint before I put them on. Preserves them a lot longer around here.
The heart throb is really mellow once it breaks in, you can hear it in the cab but its very subtle. The funny thing is, the tips are really glasspacked mufflers and it gets quite a deep tone outside while maintaining a throaty v-8 sound.
