I know I will probably get **** for the idea but, I enjoy thinking outside the box and being creative. With that being said, I also really like the Jeep XJ body but hate the 4.0 and weak unibody. I’ve seen talk on some Jeep forum pages about trying a Ford engine/drivetrain swap in the XJ but everyone suggests swapping the body onto a ford chassis with an existing drivetrain, while possibly widening the xj body.
my question is, what chassis would you suggest for such a swap and what drivetrain?
bronco chassis with the 302 or 351?
90s to early 2000s f150/f250?
I don’t care about the extra work and fabrication or what money will be needed, just curious on what frame and drivetrain to go with.
Thanks in advance!!
none. the jeep is WAY to small to fit on a ford pickup body.
ford powered jeeps have been done forever.
search ford diesel powered jeep, and you will find enough youtube videos to keep you watching for hours.
the 302/351 are popular engine swaps in jeeps too.
